We work to build a better world by strengthening the ability of mission-driven organizations and philanthropists to achieve breakthrough results in addressing society's most important challenges and opportunities.
The future of philanthropy may rest on our ability to ensure future generations of philanthropists by education and tangible results.
Of the 80,000 family foundations in America, 39% are now in the hands of people aged 40 to 49, according to Foundation Source, a major provider of services to smaller foundations. These new philanthropists, the firm says, control a charitable war chest worth approximately $83 billion.
Young philanthropists currently are learning by trial and error. They evolve from a passive check writer during mid-life to a hyper-focused investor looking for grant recipients that directly tackle society's ills.
A significant part of The Feinberg Stein Group's heritage includes services related to meeting our clients’ philanthropic goals, such as advising on charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, private foundations, donor-advised funds, and community foundations.
We help our clients achieve their philanthropic goals in a variety of ways, including:
- Developing new charitable foundations & Donor Advised Funds
- Guiding established charities to a higher level of success
- Creating collaborations with organizations working toward the same goals
- We offer complimentary consulting to existing non-profit organizations including annual review of Investment Policy Statements
The Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation is a private family foundation committed to effective community and cultural investments through its philanthropy. As a social impact investor, the Feinberg Foundation is dedicated to supporting community-based organizations that improve the lives of the economically underserved population of Chicago and Los Angeles. The Foundation serves the needs of abused or neglected youth, and supports children in at-risk or economically disadvantaged households. We focus on investment, rather than "charity," to support programs in the areas of early childhood development, literacy enrichment, homelessness, and hunger, access to health care, medical research, Jewish communal causes and the Chicago and Los Angeles arts communities.
The Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation strives to promote positive changes in the lives of people, who in turn can build and enhance the communities in which they live. We encourage and support collaboration among our donation recipients to maximize resources in sustaining programs and achieving outcomes. The Foundation seeks to learn from its investments, share what it has learned and inspire others in the public and private sectors to make similar and supporting commitments.
The Feinberg Family office, managed by the Feinberg Stein Group, recently moved its assets to Hightower in order to avoid the negative aspects and high cost of a traditional Wall Street firm.
